The City of Las Vegas recently unveiled a new “gateway” display to welcome guests to downtown.
Now, downtown has its own version of the well-known “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign, and it’s a great photo op.
At one time, a sign inspired by the original greeted visitors downtown, but a truck flattened it back in 2016. (Note: A similar sign adorns one side of the SlotZilla Zip Line here at Fremont Street Experience.)
The new downtown gateway sign is located at the intersection of Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard, not far from the Stratosphere.
The address is 1810 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
Here’s another look.
The new sign features two showgirls, long a glamorous symbol of Las Vegas, each 26 feet tall.
The showgirls bookend a 12-foot-tall, color-shifting Las Vegas sign. The logo was at one time used by the City of Las Vegas as its logo.
Also showcased in the downtown gateway sign are classic gambling icons like dice, poker chips and roulette wheel.
There’s parking nearby, so stop and grab a ‘Grammable photo of the new gateway as you make your way from The Strip to downtown Las Vegas. If you share your photo on Instagram, make sure to use our #FremontStreet hashtag so we can check out your shots.
Plans are in the works for a new downtown arch to complement the gateway sign, but it’s unknown when that project will be completed.
