Things To See

Largest Sportsbook Screen in History

At Circa, you can enjoy 3 levels of sports betting action taking place on a 78-million-pixel high-definition screen, while receiving some of the friendliest sportsbook customer service in town. The sportsbook also features VSiN’s very own on-site studio offering bettors in-depth analysis from experts in the field. Even if you’re not placing a bet, it’s still one of the best places in town to sit back, grab a drink and watch multiple games at once. The screen is so big and clear, it’ll feel like you’re actually sitting at the game. Visit Circa’s Sportsbook.

Rub Happy Buddha’s Belly

Everyone could use some luck in Las Vegas. And the Happy Buddha at The California Hotel & Casino has been doing its part for years. Found in the hotel’s registration area, rubbing the statue’s belly is supposed to bring you good luck. And if you want to double down, it’s said that leaving coins can help lead to good fortune as well. By the way, coins left at the statue are collected and donated to charity.

While you’re at The Cal, try the oxtail soup at Market Street Café. We hear it makes a great hangover cure.

World’s Largest Keno Board at The D

See your numbers as they’re drawn with this live feed of a classic Vegas casino game. The board shows live keno games as they unfold in the casino’s second floor keno lounge. Even if you aren’t playing, it’s still a worthwhile stop. Where else can you take a selfie in front of the world’s largest keno board? Stop by The D Las Vegas to play.

Berlin Wall at Main Street Station

Head to the Main Street Station, and pay a visit to the men’s bathroom on the casino floor. Why? Because there’s a huge slab of the Berlin Wall on display behind thick glass there. Yes, that Berlin Wall. Women can ask to be escorted in by security to see this surprising Cold War-era curiosity, too. In a town of unique things, this may be toward the top of the “only in Vegas” list.

It’s a hidden gem in hotel with dozens of antiques and curiosities from around the world. Stop by the registration desk and ask for a brochure listing all the antiques around the hotel.

Fremont Dice Club at Fremont Casino

If you’re into craps, check out the Fremont Dice Club at Fremont Casino in downtown Las Vegas. Plaques immortalize the names of players who have had hot rolls on the hotel’s craps tables. There’s another wall of plaques at the Fremont’s sister hotel, the nearby California Hotel & Casino.

How serious is the Fremont about craps? It’s the only casino we know of that has a roll counter on its craps tables to track the hot rolls for posterity. And don’t worry, if you don’t feel like actually gambling, you can still watch.

Historic Artifacts at Golden Gate

One of the unique parts about downtown Las Vegas is you never know when you might stumble upon some old-school Vegas history. And it doesn’t get more historical than the Golden Gate Hotel & Casino. Opened in 1906 as Hotel Nevada, it’s the oldest casino in town. And there’s a lot of history in this still vibrant casino. Near the hotel’s registration desk, check out the little known artifacts on display, including gaming ledgers from the early 1900s, vintage chip racks and more curiosities from the early days of Sin City. And then, when you go home, you can tell your friends you stood where Vegas started.

Shark Tank at Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget’s $30 million pool is an absolute stunner, not to mention an incredible feat of engineering. The Tank features a 200,000 gallon shark tank visitors can experience at a distance or up close by riding the pool’s three story water slide. Don’t worry, there’s glass in between you and the sharks. And it’s extremely thick.

Vegas Vic

Vegas Vic (originally commissioned as a cartoon character by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce in 1947) was erected on the exterior of The Pioneer Club (now a gift shop) in 1951and quickly became one of downtown’s most recognizable icons. Over 40 feet tall, Vegas Vic originally moved his arm, smoked a neon cigarette and greeted visitors with a cheerful “howdy podner.” Today, the vintage sign has been restored and is standing at Fremont Street Experience next to the Golden Nugget, making it a classic Vegas photo op. Vegas Vic even has a wife, Vegas Vickie, who is currently on display at Vegas Vickie’s Bar inside the Circa Las Vegas resort.

Fremont East Entertainment District

Looking for a lively, walkable area full of bars, restaurants and nightlife? Head to Fremont East Entertainment District. This six-block area is one of downtown Las Vegas’ top places to explore after dark. Downtown’s vibrant restaurant and bar scene make Fremont East a great way to spend an evening on the town in Las Vegas. Some best bets for restaurants are Le Thai, Evel Pie or Park on Fremont. And no visit to Fremont East would be complete without a stop at Commonwealth or the Container Park.

Tip: Even if you’re not planning a full night out, it’s a great area to bar-hop, people-watch or grab a late-night bite.
