Original Bones Kept Intact
In keeping with the times, the Golden Gate has opted to add to its structure and renovate accordingly. However, if you meander over to the high-limit slots, you’ll find the wood arches from part of the original structure. Another fun discovery you’ll find is a small peek-a-boo door where you can see part of the hotel’s original concrete wall.
A fountain with original tile from the courtyard can also be found within the walls of the Golden Gate. Wander into the lobby area, and you will come upon more historic pieces, including slot machines from the 40s through the 60s, gaming ledgers, poker chips, chip racks, hotel room keys, guest ledgers and some fan-favorite whiskey bottles from the hotel’s earliest days.
If that isn’t enough originality for you, guests can rent one of the LV 10 original rooms. These only cost a dollar to rent when the doors first opened to guests. The rooms are smaller and less ostentatious than the Las Vegas suites and casino hotel rooms most are accustomed to.
