Yes, you read that right. This epic Prohibition lounge is located at “1 Fremont Street!” The Golden Gate opened its doors in 1906 and was the first casino in Las Vegas. It had the first telephone in the city, the first outdoor electric sign and established the first casino surveillance system, among other Las Vegas firsts.
Historic highlights of Bar Prohibition!
The legacy of Bar Prohibition! spans decades, from the time the Golden Gate opened to today. The bar was a popular stop during the Wild West days, as well as a debaucherous roaring 20s hangout during the nationwide Prohibition era. Then, in the 1930s, it was the main place where Hoover Dam workers and travelers on their way to the West Coast would relax and unwind.
As time rolled on, Bar Prohibition! became one of the go-to bars in Las Vegas for the famous Rat Pack, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Dean Martin. There are even stories of impromptu Rat Pack performances at the bar with cocktails in hand.
