If you’re downtown during the holiday season, don’t miss the collection of Christmas trees on the second floor of the California Hotel & Casino.
The trees have been decorated by local charities as part of Boyd Gaming’s nationwide “Trees of Hope” contest.
Taking part in the contest at The Cal these nonprofits: Alzheimer’s Association of Southern Nevada, Lied Children’s Discovery Museum, First Friday Foundation, Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club and Safe Nest. More than two dozen charities are taking part in the contest in Nevada.
There’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit, and the spirit of giving, than a virtual forest of Christmas trees dressed to the nines!
Through Dec. 21, 2015, guests are invited to view the Christmas trees in competition at The Cal and vote for their favorite. The first place prize is $2,000 for the winning charity.
The trees are located on the second floor of The California, near the walkway to Main Street Station. (Of note to lovers of ice cream, the display is just a few feet away from Lappert’s Ice Cream, considered by many to be the best ice cream in Las Vegas and possibly Earth.)
Boyd Gaming, which operates three downtown casinos (The California, Fremont casino and Main Street Station), will donate a total of $25,000 to charity during this holiday season. Other Boyd casinos in Las Vegas taking part in the contest are The Orleans, Gold Coast, Suncoast and Sam’s Town.
