On Dec. 17, 2015, Fremont Street Experience hosted a ceremony to honor two baseball stars from Las Vegas, Bryce Harper and Kris Bryant.

These were not your ordinary keys to the city, mind you!

On-hand for the celebration were Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and her husband, former mayor Oscar Goodman (pictured below).

Bryce Harper is an outfielder for the Washington Nationals. He was recently named the National League MVP.
Harper finished off his season with 42 home runs, a .330 batting average, 99 runs batted in, 118 runs scored and six stolen bases.

Kris Bryant is the third baseman for the Chicago Cubs. He was named the National League’s Rookie of the Year with 26 home runs, a .275 batting average, 99 runs batted in, 87 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.

Both Bryant and Harper are 23 years old, which makes it all the more astonishing there’s speculation Bryce Harper may sign a $500 million dollar contract when he becomes a free agent after the 2018 season. The fact he could sign for a half-a-billion dollar contract makes you wonder why they’re called “free” agents!

Thanks to Tom Donoghue for all the great photos!
