Check out the downtown Las Vegas events calendar.

The Holiday Season in Las Vegas

Before we jump into Fremont Street events, you’re probably wondering what the holiday season looks like in Las Vegas. Because Las Vegas is a desert, it’s easy to assume that it’s hot and sunny all year long. However, you can get caught off guard if you don’t pack the right stuff for your fall or winter trip.

Here are the average high and low temperatures in Las Vegas from October to January:

While it does get chilly in Las Vegas, it’s relatively mild compared to other parts of the country. You can expect it to be brisk, especially at night, but it’s generally clear and dry. Honestly, the Las Vegas holiday season is kind of the perfect sweater weather.

Halloween Bash

Downtown Las Vegas will kick off the holiday season with a bang at the annual Halloween Bash party. This is the craziest Halloween party in Las Vegas, with live entertainment, drink specials, fun attractions and an epic costume contest that awards thousands of dollars in cash prizes.

If Halloween is your thing and you want to win a little money, the contest is going to be your jam. Registration is free and can be done on the day of the contest. All you have to do is be at least 21 years old to enter, have a valid ID and follow these rules:

Even if you don’t partake in the costume contest, the Halloween Bash has everything you need for a legendary party in downtown Las Vegas.

DrinksGiving

Up next? Thanksgiving. The beloved American holiday in November brings food and family together for a day of gratitude. However, it can also be a lot of pressure to play host or cook the traditional Thanksgiving meal. You may also eat early and want something to do for the night.

If you’re hoping to do Thanksgiving a little differently this year, we’ve got your answer. DrinksGiving in downtown Las Vegas is one of the biggest parties of the year, featuring the Great Onesie Bar Crawl and free concerts under the Viva Vision screen. Downtown bars featured in past bar crawls include:

With fantastic drink specials and an energetic crowd, this Thanksgiving will be one for the books. Pop on your comfiest pajama onesies, grab your buddies and head to Fremont Street Experience for the block party of the season.

Downtown Las Vegas Tree Lighting

It’s not really the Christmas season until you put your tree and lights up, right? Well, Fremont Street Experience takes this to another level with the downtown Las Vegas Christmas Tree Lighting in early December. The majestic evergreen tree stands around 40 feet tall with festive garland, colorful ornaments and over 50,000 lights ready to illuminate the pedestrian mall.

During the traditional tree lighting ceremony, the Las Vegas mayor joins Santa and the Fremont Street Experience team to start the festivities. They’ll flip the switch to light the tree and play a special holiday-themed Viva Vision light show. You can also get your picture taken with Santa under the brilliant canopy.

The tree will be by the 3rd Street Stage near The D, Four Queens and Fremont Hotel & Casino. After the lighting ceremony, the tree will remain lit throughout the holiday season, adding a little Christmas sparkle to Fremont Street for downtown visitors.

Downtown Hoedown

Unless you’re a rodeo fan, you may not be familiar with the National Finals Rodeo (NFR). To put it simply, the annual NFR event is the superbowl of rodeos and brings the best of the best to Las Vegas to compete for the top titles.

What does that have to do with the holiday season? NFR has taken place in early December in Las Vegas for the last 40 years, making it as much of a Sin City holiday tradition as the Christmas tree lighting itself. As a way to kick off the event and bring rodeo lovers to downtown Las Vegas, the Fremont Street Experience hosts the annual Downtown Hoedown.

If you happen to be in town for NFR, join us for free country music concerts, cold drinks and a healthy dose of debauchery. Past country artists who graced our Downtown Hoedown stages include:

The Las Vegas Great Santa Run

The Great Santa Run in Las Vegas is another fun event that takes place just outside the Fremont Street Experience at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC). If you’ve never been, you’re in for a treat. Runners don their favorite Santa attire and run to raise money for the local non-profit Opportunity Village.

On December 6, 2025, runners can choose to complete one mile or five miles for the charity. Registration includes a five-piece Santa suit, finisher medal and pre-race festivities that get everyone pumped for the run. This fun event is open to all ages and welcomes strollers, wheelchairs, walkers and pets.

New Year’s Eve Party

New Year’s Eve at the Fremont Street Experience is a true spectacle with live performances by some of the biggest names in music. As the official NYE party of the City of Las Vegas, you can expect multiple concerts across three stages in the pedestrian mall, dazzling light shows on the Viva Vision screen, an epic New Year’s countdown and a palpable party atmosphere only downtown can deliver.

To join in the New Year’s festivities, you must be at least 21 years old and purchase a ticket prior to entry. You can do this online or at any of the event entrance gates. If you purchase in person, you must have a debit or credit card. Cash is not accepted at the gates.
