Great Santa Run Lands Downtown to Benefit Nonprofit Opportunity Village

Santa Run

It's time to fly for a great cause!

Fremont Street Experience recently hosted an announcement ceremony for the 10th annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run to benefit Opportunity Village, a Las Vegas nonprofit.

The Great Santa Run happens in downtown Las Vegas on Dec. 6, 2014.

Three of Santa’s helpers flew on SlotZilla to kick off the Great Santa Run news conference.

Guests from Opportunity Village, local VIPs (including Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman) and members of the media were in attendance for the announcement.

Last year, about 11,000 runners participated in the 5K Las Vegas Great Santa Run, all of whom were dressed as Santa, of course.

You don’t have to dress like Santa, but if you don’t, you’re sort of going to stand out.

Santa Runs happen around the globe, and the Great Santa Run in Las Vegas is the three-year reigning champion of the “World Santa Challenge,” a contest for the largest Santa Run in the world.

E! reality star and Las Vegas Strip performer Holly Madison will serve as host of the Las Vegas Great Santa Run.

Red is a great color for Holly Madison. Related: There are no bad colors for Holly Madison.

Also, The Chippendales will take part as the run’s Grand Marshals.

Sorry, but we expect they’ll have their shirts on. It’s Vegas, but it’s also December.

Opportunity Village is a nonprofit organization that serves people with significant intellectual disabilities by providing meaningful work and life experiences.

Opportunity Village was voted “Best Community Organization” by the readers of the Las Vegas Review Journal.

The Elvi Dance Troupe from Opportunity Village livened up the proceedings at Fremont Street Experience.

In honor of the Great Santa Run, Fremont Street Experience’s own Director of Marketing Thomas Bruny made a special announcement: On the day of the Las Vegas Great Santa Run (Dec. 6, 2014), for a seven-hour window (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), 100% of the revenue generated by ticket sales from the SlotZilla zip line will be donated to Opportunity Village.

Thomas Bruny rocks the mic.
