Free “Rock of Vegas” Summer Concert Series Offers Something for Everyone

In summers past, our summer concerts have tended to follow a theme. This year (the sixth anniversary of “Rock of Vegas”), it’s all about variety and our “Rock of Vegas” concerts include an eclectic mix of bands sure to keep Fremont Street rocking all summer long.

Here’s a complete list of the bands lined up for our free “Rock of Vegas” summer concert series.

3 Doors Down
3rd Street Stage

Since forming in 1995, Mississippi rock quintet 3 Doors Down has sold more than 16 million albums worldwide, garnered three Grammy nominations, two American Music Awards, and five BMI Pop Awards for songwriting, including BMI’s coveted “Songwriter of the Year” award. The band’s debut album, 2000′s The Better Life, now certified six-times platinum, featured the smash hit “Kryptonite.” The band’s Away from the Sun saw similar success with radio mainstays “When I’m Gone” and “Here Without You.”

Papa Roach, P.O.D., Lit
3rd Street Stage

This free concert, featuring three powerhouse bands, is part of UFC International Fight Week which takes place July 1-6, 2014. Papa Roach has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, and their hits include “Last Resort,” “Between Angels and Insects,” “She Loves Me Not” and others. P.O.D. features Sonny Sandoval, Wuv Bernardo, Marcos Curiel and Traa Daniels. P.O.D.’s six albums and two indies have sold more than 12 million copies. Lit is a popular alt-rock band, with hits like “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Miserable” and “Zip-Lock.”

Summerland Tour 2014: Everclear, Soul Asylum, Eve 6 and Space Hog
1st Street Stage

This all-star line-up boasts four acts who owned the ’90s rock charts. Everclear is known for its radio smashes “Santa Monica,” “Father of Mine,” “Wonderful” and others. Soul Asylum brought us “Runaway Train.” Pop-punk Eve 6 and English rockers Space Hog round out a hit-filled evening on Fremont Street.

Seether
1st Street Stage

Multi-platinum alternative rock trio Seether featurs Shaun Morgan (vocals, guitar), Dale Stewart (bass, backing vocals) and and John Humphrey (drums). The band had a breakthrough success with their #1 single “Fine Again” in 2002, then followed up with hits like “Broken,” “Remedy,” “Fake It” and “Country Song.” Their latest effort, Isolate And Medicate, comes out July 1, 2014.

Deep Purple
3rd Street Stage

English rock band Deep Purple is known as one of the pioneers of rock music. The band got its start in Hertford, England in 1968 and released a trio of albums from 1970-73 that catapulted them to the top in concert grosses and album sales around the world. They’re perhaps best-knwon for songs including “Smoke on the Water,” “Highway Star,” “Fireball” and “Speed King.”

Fuel, Filter, Royal Bliss, Local H
1st Street Stage

Get set for another night of musical mayhem with Fuel, Filter, Royal Bliss and Local H. Fuel brings its signature alt-rock, post-grunge sound with hits like Shimmer,” “Hemorrhage (In My Hands)” and “Bad Day.” Industrial rock’s Filter has released six studio albums, and will perform fan favorites and songs from its latest album, The Sun Comes Out Tonight. Royal Bliss released its 8th album, Chasing the Sun, in February, 2014. Alt-rock band Local H is perhaps best-known for its hit, “Bound for the Floor.”
